The Unsung Heroes of the Diamond

Title: The Unsung Heroes of the Diamond

In fields of dreams where legends rise, A tale of baseball's great reprise, Yet shadows cast reveal a plight, Few African-Americans in sight.

Once upon a hallowed time, Black players shone in their prime, From Jackie Robinson's career unfurled, To the triumphs of Big Papi in the world.

Yet why does the stage seem scarce for some, As if their dreams were drowned and numb? Discrimination's legacy still holds, Its grip, unyielding, these stories untold.

The lack of chances, woven deep, Institutional barriers, too steep, Aspiring talents, often untapped, Their spirit diminished, dreams unwrapped.

But in the face of this unjust tide, Resilience and hope can still abide, For African-Americans' love for the game, Burns bright, ablaze, its eternal flame.

So let us stand amidst the crowd, And raise our voices, clear and loud, Demanding change and equal score, For every player to freely soar.

For the diamond's magic knows no race, It cares not for prejudice's trace, Let's break the barriers, let talent thrive, And celebrate the game, truly alive.
